Jude Treder-Wolff is a writer/performer, singer/songwriter and creative arts psychotherapist. She is host/creator of (mostly) TRUE THINGS, a live show featuring true stories – with a twist – told by people from all walks of life, ages and backgrounds that has grown into a monthly cultural event at venues on Long Island and NYC and travels to communities around the country including a teen edition. She has been a featured storyteller on Mortified, Now You’re Talking, The Armando Diaz Experience at The Magnet Theater, The Day I Should Have…at The Tank in NYC, RISK! live show and podcast, Talk Therapy, Take Two Storytelling, Prose Of Pie and many more. Her solo storytelling show Crazytown was selected for the 2013 Midtown International Theater Festival and the 2012 Chicago and San Francisco Fringe Festivals. Crazytown was performed at The Pit-The Peoples Improv, Actors Theatre Workshop and Broadway Comedy Club in NYC, at The Charles B. Wang Center at Stonybrook University, The Examined Life Conference at The Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, IA, and The Coservatory NJ in Trenton, NJ.
A Certified Practitioner of Applied Improvisation, she completed Levels 1-6 at The Peoples Improv Theater in NYC, and the Musical Improv program at the Magnet Theater in NYC. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Group Psychotherapist and creative arts therapist, she presents on applications of storytelling and improvisation in clinical and educational settings to groups, organizations and conferences around the country. She is a New York State-approved provider of Continuing Education for social workers and is an adjunct faculty member for UC-Berkeley Continuing Education in Behavioral Health. She has been interviewed by major media outlets about storytelling, creativity, and mental health for NBC News, LI Pulse, Newsday, The Orlando Sentinel, The List, Woman’s Day, Chicago Tribuneand others. Academic writing includes articles published in the International Journal of Arts In Psychotherapy Special Issue on Addiction and Special Issue on HIV/AIDS, Music Therapy Perspectives, Recovery Press, and the New York State Clinical Social Work newsletter.
